Her first hair cut.

Alora’s hair was getting really shaggy.  Her bangs were in front of her eyes and it was falling over her ears like an old man’s but I didn’t want to pay for her to get a hair cut.  So while mommy was holding her I used my electric razor with clipper attachment to trim it up.  It doesn’t look to bad if I do say so myself.

She has been cutting three teeth for a while now so it has been a little bit hard on us all but I guess everyone goes through this stuff.

Alora’s First Flight

Alora took her first flight today. We flew directly from Port Columbus to Sky Harbor on a four hour flight. Alora did VERY well, but she only slept about 15 minutes but she behaved very well and she seemed to hate flying as much as I do.

Another First

I had my first pancake today.  Daddy was making them and I was looking at them longingly so mommy stole one and gave it to me.  Daddy makes rockin pancakes.  I really liked it but I wanted the sticky stuff they put all over it, and they wouldn’t let me have any.  Oh well, it was good anyway.

7 Months

I am 7 months old today. I feel like it is a great milestone in my young life, and is a time of reflection. It is about time I get around to doing some things I have been meaning to do, like crawling, getting my first tooth and deciding to be left-handed. Yea, it has been a great life so far but I have so much left to look forward to.

What a weekend

I know I have already told you a little about my weekend with Daddy, we had a great time, but it sure was good to see Mommy again.  She suprised us by coming to Church.  Just in time because I had a dirty diaper. 🙂

We all took a NICE nap on Sunday and then finished watching the race.  It was great to spend time with Daddy but I am so glad to have my Mommy back.

My Daddy Time

I have had a great time so far with Daddy this weekend.  I was really tired Friday night so I went to bed on time for him and didn’t stir until I got my night time bottle.  I was even nice enough to let him sleep in until 8 this morning.  But I was hungry and wet so I couldn’t wait any more.  Then we played on the floor this morning while we watched Little House on The Prarie, I think I like that show.

Then Daddy took me out for a walk and I got to talk to my Grandma Fisher although I wasn’t very talkative.  But now I think I need another nap.

Our Daughter is one of the few…

We found out today that our daughter is one of the 3% of kids who still get ear infection after they have tubes but in their ears. It is a terribly frustrating experience. Please continue to pray with us as we try to figure out what to do. We can at least use ear drops to clean out the infection now instead of filling her with antibiotics but she HATES them so it has been a bit of a struggle.

I thought I knew God

As I move through life I slowly discover that I don’t know as much as I thought I did.  Today was one of those moments

I thought I new a lot about God before I was a father.  But like many things in life the older I get the more I realize I didnt know crap about crap if you will forgive the expression.  This morning my daughter, Alora, had to have tubes in put into her ears, a very common surgery to prevent her from having more than her current seven ear infections in six months.
We woke her early this morning to be at the surgeons office at 6:30, she was amazingly cheerful, her normal disposition.  We left our daughter with the nurses while I ran next door to grab us breakfast.  The surgery was done by the time I got back but when we went back to see Alora we could hear her first.  They had warned us she may be inconsolable but nothing really prepares you for that experience.  As I sat there holding my crying daughter, wishing there was a way I would take her pain upon myself, I began to understand more the heart of God our Father.  After being a Christian for some time the idea of Jesus sacrifice is in danger of becoming cliché.  I have only one time in my life come close to understanding why God would go through the agony he endured, that was the night my daughter was born.
I would have done anything to take the pain my daughter was enduring on myself.  I would have taken her pain, or anything else needed if it would have made her stop her inconsolable weeping.  It was breaking my heart to see her in pain but I could only imagine this was a small piece of what God felt as he looked upon the earth and saw us all, he was willing to do anything to save us all from our eternal pain.
I thought I new God until I was a father then I realized I didnt know anything.

Update

So this past month has been one crazy one. For starters Alora has survived a cold and double ear infections and mommy has battled multiple bouts with mastitis, which leads us to the present day that mom has officially stopped breastfeeding and Alora is chowing down on the formula. She recently had a 7 week check up and is a whopping 11lbs. and 4 oz. (apparently as long as there is food she doesn’t care where it comes from) and 23 inches long.

So mom is doing better both emotionally and physically (thanks for all of your prayers) and Alora is learning new things every day.

And last but certainly not least Jason will be starting his new job at The Limited in 2 weeks. It is truly an answer to prayers with a huge pay increase and being first choice for the job (God’s favor is a wonderful thing).

So thank you for all of your prayers and we hope your enjoying the pictures.
